- As an amfori BSCI member, METRO carries out regular audits
The cross-sector amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) strives to ensure that companies adhere to minimum social standards in their global supply chains. International trade association amfori founded the initiative in 2003. In its Code of Conduct, the amfori BSCI defines the principles of responsible business practices in the supply chain, such as those relating to health and safety in the workplace, the eradication of discrimination and the elimination of child labour.
amfori BSCI Code of Conduct
The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct is based on the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the labour standards set out by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The amfori BSCI therefore plays an important role in implementing social compliance in companies. METRO adopted the amfori BSCI initiative and is obliged to regularly review certain food, near-food and non-food producers in independent audits.
