METRO uses the term Trader to refer to the customer group of independent resellers. These include small grocery stores, kiosks, street food vendors, as well as petrol stations and wholesalers. They operate independently and serve primarily local customers with a wide range of everyday products.
METRO supports Traders
METRO supports Traders with services that are tailored to their specific needs. These include, for example, individual assortment advice so that Traders can tailor their product range to customer demand. METRO delivers the selected goods directly to the store. Traders benefit from price advantages and special promotions. With training and further education in the area of sales promotion and product presentation, METRO also helps to increase the attractiveness of the stores. Digital solutions such as ordering platforms or sales analysis tools also help Traders to optimise their operations. METRO also offers franchise models for independent Traders / resellers in nine countries, primarily in Eastern Europe.
METRO is expanding the Traders segment
Particularly in Eastern Europe, Traders are an important economic factor for METRO. METRO recognises the special significance of this and has declared in its 2022/23 Annual Report that its goal is to generate more than 80% of sales with the core customer groups HoReCa and Traders by 2030.
