What is diversity management?

Diversity management is an integral component of human resource management. Its aim is to promote the social, cultural and ethnic diversity of employees so as to contribute to the prosperity of the company. Within diversity management, diversity is considered to offer added value to an organisation. Consequently, it is about consciously making use of employees’ individual differences. External features like disabilities, ethnicity, gender and age are taken into consideration just as much as subjectively perceived differences like religion or sexual orientation.

How does METRO establish diversity management?

METRO consciously espouses diversity and inclusion and has been a signatory of the Charta der Vielfalt [Diversity Charter] since 2007. This promotes an integrative corporate culture and enables access to a broader pool of talent. The goal is to create an open working environment in which individual differences are respected, valued and promoted. METRO strives to build a diverse workforce in which each individual can develop and use their unique potential and strengths.
