DISH Digital Solutions GmbH, formerly Hospitality Digital, is a subsidiary of METRO AG. Since its foundation in 2015, it has specialised in the development of digital solutions for the hospitality, hotel and wholesale industries. Under the DISH brand, the company develops solutions and services that help restaurateurs make their business more efficient and customer-friendly. The digital solutions reach small and medium-sized businesses in the HoReCa sector via our own sales channels and those of the METRO/MAKRO countries. DISH Digital Solutions GmbH also invests in start-ups in the hospitality, retail and wholesale, food tech and food innovation industries and monitors trends in the hospitality industry to promote the exchange and further development of digital tools together with and for restaurateurs.
Digital solutions for restaurateurs
Everything from a one-stop shop: DISH Digital Solutions GmbH offers an all-round digital package specially tailored to the requirements of the HoReCa sector. This includes DISH Starter, a tool for creating a professional restaurant website, DISH Reservation, an online reservation tool , and DISH Order, an online ordering system. By integrating the ordering option into both Google Search and Google Maps, DISH Digital Solutions GmbH gives restaurateurs in Germany the opportunity to offer their dishes as take-away or delivery – without involving other service providers in the process. Over 330,000 restaurants are already using DISH solutions in more than 15 different languages.
Acquisition of Eijsink
Having acquired the Dutch manufacturer Eijsink at the beginning of 2022, DISH Digital Solutions GmbH now completes its portfolio with the cloud-based DISH POS system as a digital solution for the hospitality industry. The Dutch market leader has already sold the point-of-sale (POS) system in the Benelux countries to around 8,000 customers, where it is known as “boo POS”. Sales of DISH POS started in Germany and France in mid-2023 and in Italy in November 2023, with a rollout in Spain coming next. The POS solution can be used from any location and on any device and enables the integration of many other digital tools, such as the DISH reservation or ordering tool. With this acquisition, METRO has taken a further step towards becoming a multichannel solution provider in financial year 2021/22.
